The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA), the peak body representing the mobile telecommunications industry, has produced a brochure to show drivers how to comply with driving laws using best practice mobile phone technology to keep their eyes on the road and avoid distractions.

The brochure, “Keep Your Eyes on the Road”, was produced with input from a senior traffic policeman and relies on the latest cutting-edge research from the United States on driver distractions using sensitive in-car cameras to follow drivers over millions of kilometres and thousands of hours of driving.
The brochure informs drivers how to comply with the law by buying, installing and using a cradle and using their smartphones’ features to reduce driving distractions. It targets the clearly dangerous, illegal and unacceptable practice of texting, which has a 23.2 times greater risk of a crash.
